Let me introduce myself and my approach to therapy...

Hi, I’m Margaret!

I am so glad you are considering taking a step towards
stronger emotional wellbeing!

I have been a licensed clinician for over 20 years in many different settings such as community mental health, schools, group private practice, and my own practice. Prior to this I was working in a corporate position followed by public education. These diverse experiences help me connect with clients in a variety of occupations that are dealing with work stressors or career transitions.

My licenses cover the states of both North Carolina, where I reside, as well as Florida where I lived for many years. I have a cozy office in downtown Morganton, NC, but also provide virtual therapy throughout the state. Over the years, I have served a variety of ages, but now my focus is on adults looking for help with anxiety/depression, life transitions (including grief and loss), and relationship issues (including a client’s relationship with food). Other areas of treatment include trauma, substance abuse, stress reduction/management, healthy coping skills, women’s issues, and self-esteem/personal growth. I also offer psychoeducational support with nutritional psychology which helps to keep a strong balance between emotional and physical health.

Approach to therapy…

I provide my clients with an integrative approach to therapy that uses a variety of techniques to best fit each client’s unique needs. Techniques used will vary and include, but are not limited to: Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, ACT; Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness.

I believe that a positive relationship between a therapist and client allows trust to build and for more collaboration in the treatment process. From a holistic standpoint, I teach clients about the interconnection of mental and physical health and how important it is to keep both in balance.

What to expect if we work together…

Clients appreciate my authenticity and ability to “be real” with them regarding how best to tackle their concerns. I encourage my clients to start with small steps and move toward what speaks to their heart and their values. Life transitions are a part of our journey and, while some are rewarding, some are a challenge. Whether you are struggling with something personally or professionally, you could benefit from working with a therapist who understands and can help guide you through the work to initiate change in your life. I encourage clients to discuss issues and concerns with me directly, so that I can make the counseling experience a collaborative and positive one for them. I enjoy working with adults to help them find success along life's journey. I believe in the benefits of therapy and the resiliency of clients to develop the skills they need to manage their emotions, achieve their goals, and live a meaningful and purposeful life.
